Housesteads Roman Fort, Berwick-Upon-Tweed, Northumberland, TD15 2RX.
Housesteads Roman Fort is one of the largest forts in Britain, covering 5 acres. It is situated approximately midway along Hadrian’s Wall, and gives fine views of the Northumbrian countryside. Visitors can see the remains of barrack blocks, the granaries, the hospital, headquarters building and commanding officer’s house. There is also a museum, which has displays of finds on the site.
