Set in parkland, the Burrell was opened in 1983 in a purpose built light and airy building. It has major collection of European, Islamic and Ancient world art (Greece, Rome, Egypt and China) The result is one of the finest art galleries in Britain, showing an unusually extensive collection of items from different periods.
