Walmer Castle, Kingsdown Rd, Walmer, Deal, Kent, CT14 7LJ.
Walmer Castle was built by Henry VIII between 1539 and 1540 as part of his coastal defense system. Over the years many alterations have been made to the castle and it is now more a stately home than a fort. The castle is also something of a museum of its former residents, especially Pitt and the Iron Duke. The garden hosts a wide variety of flowers and other greenery. There is also a woodland walk, croquet lawn, commemorative lawn and a working kitchen garden.
