Beverley Minster

Beverley Minster, The Minster, Beverley, North Humberside, HU17 0DP.
Beverley Minster is a suprisingly large imposing church which dominates the small Yorkshire town of Beverley. There has been a church on the site for over 1300 years but the current church dates back to 1220 and contains elements of three Gothic styles: Early English, Decorated and Perpendicular. The Minster also contains examples of fine carvings including the misericords or mercy seats which are hinged wooden seats on which worshippers could also lean against when standing. Each of the 68 seats have interesting carvings including a fox holding a rosary, preaching to a flock of geese.
