Dryburgh Abbey, St. Boswells, Melrose, Roxburghshire, TD6 0RQ.
Dryburgh Abbey, on the banks of the Tweed River, was ravaged by war and finally destroyed by fire in the 16th century. However, Dryburgh's chapter house reveals plaster and paintwork dating back to its inception and the rest of the abbey has fine examples of ecclesiastic architecture and masonry that survived the difficult history.
