1st Chard Wheelers

1st Chard Wheelers, Ivydene, , Chardstock, Axminster, Somerset, EX13 7BN.
1st Chard Wheelers was formed in 1957 to meet the needs of racing and competitive cyclists in the Chard, South Somerset, East Devon and West Dorset area. Members still enjoy their racing, but we have a good and increasing number of members interested in sportive and challenge cycling in general. You will get a warm welcome whether you wish to race, get fit enough to ride a 50 mile sportive or sponsored ride, or just improve your fitness and lose some weight. Basically we are the equivalent of a local running / jogging club. We have members from the ages of 12 years to 60something and a bit! The bedrock of the club is its Sunday rides, the B ride covers between 30 – 40 miles at speeds of 12 – 15 miles per hour, with a strict ‘we won’t leave you behind’ rule for everyone on the ride. We also have a training group ride aimed at the more serious racing and sportive rider that covers 60 -70 miles at speeds of around 18 -20 miles per hour. Both rides meet outside the Guildhall in Chard at 8.30am on Sunday morning. As the weather warms up (from April onwards) we also will be running beginners and family rides on a couple of Saturday mornings each month.
