Alfriston Clergy House was the first building purchased by the National Trust in 1896, for £10.
Inside, visitors will find a fine medieval hall with a chalk and sour milk floor..
The cottage garden is home to a rare array of traditional flowers and scents and there are attractive views across the Cuckmere Valley.
