We are situated just 5 minutes away from the M4 motorway, close to the Severn Bridge. You will find The First Hurdle Guest House, a charming and elegant retreat ideally placed in the historic town centre of Chepstow.
The First Hurdle Guest House is the only guesthouse situated in the centre of this famous medieval walled town of Chepstow. This makes us perfectly placed for visiting the famous Chepstow Castle, Chepstow Race Course just a mile and half away and home of the Welsh Grand National, as well as the many local British Pubs, restaurants, and shops.
The First Hurdle Guest House is also ideally located to reach into the Wye Valley and visit many of the local tourist attractions such as Offa's Dyke, Forest of Dean, Brecon Becons and Tintern Abbey plus, within close proximity are the Cathedral cities of Cardiff, Gloucester, Worcester and Bristol plus the Regency town Cheltenham.
For Disabled Guests we also have two single bedrooms accessible from the ground floor with just two steps down to the breakfast room
Local Attractions within walking distance include the Museum at Chepstow which takes you on a tour through Chepstow’s history, following its development over the past 1000 years and its importance as a bustling and productive port in previous years. Chepstow Castle, dating from the 11th century is a spectacular site, situated on the imposing cliffs above the River Wye. A short drive is Tintern Abbey is a 12th century abbey that welcomes thousands of visitors every year to marvel at its magnificent structure, still standing after the reformation saw it partially destroyed.
