THE VAL KELLY JAZZ AND SOUL QUARTET, Flat B, 75 London Road, London, Kent, SE23 3TY.
This is the cool, sophisticated vocal lead jazz band appropriate for intimate functions, garden parties by the pool, dinner, cocktail, Sunday brunch, clubs & restaurants. The sextet is often hired to welcome the guests at big corporate events and whenever non-intrusive but live background music is required such as champagne cocktail, wedding breakfast or… networking meetings.
Backed by some of London's finest jazz musicians, songstress Val Kelly's deeply warm and sultry vocals ~ reminiscent of the likes of Nina Simone and Julie London ~ have continued to captivate audiences both home and abroad since 1995. Performing a melange of cool sophisticated jazz standards, bossa-nova, Latin jazz as well soulful 'easy-listening' music, The Val Kelly Jazz Quartet has been the highlight of many exclusive private/corporate functions, 5 Star hotels, clubs and festivals. Their repertoire can include some Pop, funk and R&B music for the appropriate venue or audience.
Appearances include the Nice-Cimiez Jazz Festival, the Soho Jazz Festival, Le Meridien Waldorf (Jazz brunch), Jazz FM summer jazz Festival (2003-2004) and 8 weeks as the support act to Dame Cleo Lane & Sir Johnny Dankworth and Rita Coolidge at the Green Room, Café Royal, London, Penny West Charitable Trust, Capgemini, Ernst & Young, Alan & Avery Solicitors, The Cosmetic, Toiletry & Perfumery Association Ltd, Mezzo… the list is very long.
They have been chosen as the house band of Cafe de Paris and Windows, Hilton Park Lane to name a few….
