Beaumaris Gaol and Courthouse

Beaumaris Gaol and Courthouse, Steeple Lane, Beaumaris, Isle Of Anglesey, Gwynedd, LL58 8EP.
Beaumaris Gaol and Courthouse is a vivid reminder of the tough penalties carried out by 19-century law. The building is full of sad memories and secrets with it's bars and locks, dark and dusty corridors, darkness, and cold and despair.
Visitors can explore the large building with it's dimly lit corridors, spartan cells and places of punishment including the unique treadwheel.
Visit the condemned cell, experience the darkness of the punishment cell or handle chains and fetters last worn by prisoners a century ago. Rooms to explore include the Governer's office, the drunk's cell, the women's workroom, the kitchen and the whipping room.
