Berney Arms Mill, at 20 metres high is the tallest marsh mill in Norfolfk. Standing seven floors high it towers above the landscape and is a landmark for miles. It is still in working order and was built around the middle of the last century by millwrights, Stolworthy, originally to ground cement clinker. As this trade died out it was converted to pump water from the marshes of the Broads. The mill or 'pump' as it was then was still in use until 1951.
There is a small exhibition at the mill which tells its history. The mill can be reached only by boat or by foot. But it makes a splendid landmark for walkers coming from Halvergate, Reedham, Wickhampton or Great Yarmouth. It also on the route of the Weaver's Way, Norfolk's long-distance path.
