The Horndean Brewery was founded in 1847 although brewing had been taking place before that at what is now the brewery tap. A larger brewery was built behind the pub by 1869 and remainded independent until 2005 when it was bought by Fullers. Visitors can undertake a tour of the brewery and learn about the traditional art of brewing and savour the scent of the yeast, hops and barley as they are shown the brewery well, mill room, mash tun, copper, open wooden fermenting vessels and cellar. At the end of the tour there is a chance to sample the product with soft drinks for drivers and children.
