It’s that feeling when the sea starts lapping round top of your legs and you know, you just know that everyone on the beach is watching you wondering whether you’ll wimp out

It’s not that the seas around Britain are so very, very cold it’s just that…

little_girl.jpgOK it is.

It’s because they’re bloody cold.

Funny though how small children are completely oblivious to cold water. You see, they have no hang-ups about getting their bums wet.

Probably they’re used to having a wet bum.

water_melon.jpgBut still with the promise of warmer weather, (although really who in all honesty believes the weather men?) now is the time to put away adult inhibitions and head for the nearest patch of sand.

wet_dog.jpg Everyone is down there. Mad dogs who just love getting wet – although not nearly as much as they love shaking themselves dry again, standing as close as possible to the nearest somnolent human.

Horses down on the sand.

 Remember sandcastles? beach_bucket_in_sea.jpg
beach_ball.jpg and beach ball?

An then at the end of the day, to wander along the shore, to look at the fishing boats and the first flash of the lighthouse at dusk. fishing_boat.jpg

It’s what summer is for.
