Writers and Photographers wanted

Are you seeking a career in journalism or photojournalism? Then you will want to build up a portfolio to show prospective employers.

There is an old saying in journalism – you are only as good as your last story. It’s true. All employers in the media are looking for people who can generate ideas, who write well – or who can take outstanding photographs and they all like to see recent examples of your work.

This can make it really difficult to break into the profession. To get a job you need to show good published stories and to get good published stories you need a job.

Maybe we can help. We want Donowdo’s coverage to be second to none about a whole host of leisure activities - about film, about theatre, about theme parks, about pubs and restaurants, about books, about adventure activities - white-water rafting, rock climbing, sailing, paragliding. The kind of things you would really love to write about. We also want to include outstanding photographs that can tell a story in their own right.

We think we have made a good start but there is still a long way to go. We are setting up a network across the country of talented individuals who will supplement our staff of experienced journalists and freelances. We are not offering any fees but we are offering help and advice on your writing, the opportunity to have by-lined articles on a major site and gain bags of experience. If you are interested in learning more, fill in the short form below and tell us a bit about yourself, your educational background, your experience, your ambitions and your leisure interests.
